Spin Inn originally opened in the 1960’s at 15 Cross Street, Manchester, M2 1WF.

Unsure who started it in the 1960’s but from the above image (source: The London Gazette, 15th February 1972) we can see that Douglas Rodney Roberts retired at the end of 1971, where Brian Hopkins took over.
Later on in the 1970s, Gary Laine would take control who had an assistant called Linda at the time. Harry Taylor then ran it with Mike Carlon, Kev Edwards and Kenny Grogan working there. They originally specialised in Jazz, Funk, Disco and Soul until the early 1980s when Hip Hop and Electro started to emerge.
In 1986 Russ Marland started working there just as the explosion of House music began.
In 1988 Spin Inn then moved to Unit 1, Market Centre, Manchester, M2 1DD where it remained until it closed in 1996.

Russ, along side Kenny Grogan and Mike Carlon would supply both regular customers and DJs such as Mike Pickering and most importantly Stu Allan for his radio shows Bus Diss, Souled Out and The House Hour.

The iconic record bags changed designs to reflect the music around 1988.
Two adverts were placed in Manchester United Programmes in 1990 and 1991:

United Review: Manchester United Football Club Volume 51, No 15 Saturday 3rd March 1990

United Review: Manchester United Football Club Volume 52, No 24 Saturday 23rd March 1991
In 1990 Russ and Kenny left Spin Inn and set up Manchester Underground Records.
Mark Mckinley, Paul Walker and Tony Ross worked there until Spin Inn closed in 1996.
Pete Sarge opened Spin Inn on Tib Street in 1996 concentrating on Happy Hardcore.
